The main flagship camera of Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 uses a combination of one WLG glass lens and six plastic lenses, offering a more powerful optical performance than the previous generation of the 7P plastic lens. It boasts a larger aperture, high resolution, and reduced thickness, reducing image noise in low-light shooting conditions and improving sharpness and close-focus image quality.
Xiaomi and AAC Optics, a subsidiary of AAC, have jointly customized the WLG glass lens. This lens, renowned for its superior performance in terms of refractive index, dispersion, reliability, and thermal stability, fully empowers the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 and improves color accuracy and overall picture quality for more vivid imaging.
The f/1.77 large aperture allows a greater influx of light into the sensor and perfectly restores the scene and colors as perceived by the human eye. This results in imaging that is more detailed and realistic.
Mr. Lei Jun, Chairman and CEO of Xiaomi, stated in Weibo that Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 introduced a brand-new ultra-thin and ultra-clear glass lens in the foldable smartphone industry for the first time. It increased light transmittance and effectively reduced dispersion. The ultra-thin lens design also reduces the overall thickness of the lens group.

The WLG technology of AAC Optics has significant advantages in optical performance, optical accuracy, lens structure, lens thickness and offers the ultimate performance. Compared with plastic lenses with the same specifications, the 1G6P WLG hybrid lens designed by AAC Optics offers a 5-10% decrease in the overall height of the lens. Featuring a large aperture of f/1.77, the main camera of the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 is equipped with a main camera that comprises a stack of seven lenses. However, thanks to its lens height of only 6.2 mm, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 achieves a sleek body that is only 10.96 mm thick.
