AAC Technologies invested USD 20 million in Tampere to expand R&D in optics

(Hong Kong, September 24, 2018) AAC Technologies Holdings Inc. (“AAC Technologies” or “Company”; stock code: 2018) announced that it will add to the investment in Tampere, the second largest city in Finland. The Company has planned to invest USD 20 million in the Tampere Optical Research and Investment Center to expand the talent pool of the center to 100 local high-tech researchers and build it into a global high-end optical research and development center.

This investment marks one of the achievements made when the delegation of Nanshan District, Shenzhen, China visited Tampere. Wang Qiang, Party Secretary of Nanshan District Committee, also joined the delegation. Lauri Lyly, the mayor of Tampere, highly acclaimed and welcomed AAC Technologies’ decision to set up a research and development center in Tampere.

AAC Technologies has set up research and development centers in 15 cities around the world, including Silicon Valley in the United States, Osaka in Japan, and Singapore, possessing more than 4,300 researchers. The optical research and development center in Tampere will focus on the testing of optical products, including image processing, sensor and lens design. Playing an extremely important role in the future development plan of AAC Technologies, it will become the main research and development center for image solutions. After 9 years of efforts by our optical research and development team, with the Tampere center included, plus continuous investment in optics totaling nearly USD 700 million, AAC Technologies is now the world’s only company that possesses the mass production technology of WLG glass lenses. The Company believes that the solution of hybrid lenses with WLG glass lens is highly scalable and can bring preeminent and outstanding optical performance. The Company aims to become a key player in the optical market.
