(Hong Kong, October 31, 2018) AAC Technologies Holdings Inc. (“AAC Technologies” or “Company”; stock code: 2018) announced that its Singapore Research and Development Center, with an investment of USD 200 million, will hold the inauguration ceremony on October 31. As a new milestone of both countries in scientific research cooperation, this event was attended by Desmond Choo, Mayor of North East District of Singapore, Zhong Manying, Minister Counselor for Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore, Lim Swee Nian, Assistant Managing Director of the Economic Development Board of Singapore, who also delivered speeches at the ceremony.
Desmond Choo, Mayor of North East District of Singapore, said that the Singapore Research and Development Center invested and built by AAC Technologies is located in Tampines, which is one of the four major regional centers in Singapore. Singapore is a world-leading center of electronic information. It accommodates one-tenth of the global chip productivity and 9 out of 15 world-leading semiconductor companies. Tampines, where the project will be located, is advantageous in transportation, environment, supply chains, and industrial supports.
During the inauguration ceremony, a leader of AAC Technologies introduced that the Singapore Research and Development Center boasts an investment of around USD 200 million and a total construction area of 37,800 square meters. The phase I project, with a construction area of 18,900 square meters, will be completed in 2019 and put into use in the second half of 2020. The center will mainly engage in the research and development of high-end optical devices and MEMS, and will expand to 5G millimeter waves in the future. The leader said AAC Technologies will fully utilize Singapore’s abundant resources in scientific research and education and add R&D inputs in precision manufacturing, making Singapore its global R&D headquarters. Meanwhile, by relying on Singapore’s geographical advantage as the center of Southeast Asia and even South Asia and combining AAC Technologies’ manufacturing bases in Southeast Asia and South Asia, the Company will join its strength in R&D and manufacturing and further improve the allocation of global resources, thus generating a bigger edge in the new picture of global competition.
