MI and AAC team up to create a new imaging trend
At the product launch, the Xiaomi Civi 3 was unveiled with Sony’s IMX800 image sensor featuring optical image stabilization (OIS) for its main camera. The lens, consisting of seven elements, is the standard configuration for flagship models on the market today.
While traditional flagship smartphones use plastic lenses, the Xiaomi Civi 3 features the 1G6P WLG glass-plastic hybrid lens jointly customized by Xiaomi and AAC Optics. This customized lens incorporates a WLG lens and six plastic lenses.

The presenter at the launch event highlighted that the Xiaomi Civi 3 benefits greatly from the ultra-clear glass lens. The lens allows for increased light intake, thus providing more vivid image color and enhanced image clarity.
High-performance, ultra-clear, and lightweight WLG lens
This 1G6P WLG glass-plastic hybrid lens customized by Xiaomi and AAC Optics has more powerful optical performance than the traditional 7P plastic lens. In addition, it boasts a larger aperture, high resolution, and reduced thickness.
Glass lenses are superior to plastic lenses in terms of refractive index, dispersion, reliability, and thermal stability. Glass lenses offer a solution to the challenges and limitations associated with the use of plastic lenses. The adoption of the ultra-clear WLG lens enables superior color purity and contrast for a more accurate representation of scenes and colors as perceived by the human eye. The F1.77 large aperture allows a greater influx of light into the sensor channel and more fine details to pass through the WLG lens and reach the sensor. This results in imaging that is more detailed and vivid.
In addition, the 1G6P glass-plastic lens offers a 5-10% decrease in the overall height of the lens when compared to plastic lenses with the same specifications. Featuring a large aperture of F1.77, the Xiaomi Civi 3 is equipped with a main camera that comprises a stack of seven lenses. However, thanks to its lens height of only 6.2 mm, the Xiaomi Civi 3 achieves an impressive lightweight design of just 173.5 g and a sleek body that is only 7.56 mm thick.
By leveraging the power of the 1G6P WLG lens, the Xiaomi Civi 3 further reduces image noise in low-light shooting conditions while significantly improving edge sharpness and close-focus image quality.
