Recently, Guangdong Cable Network partnered with JYUN5DEI6, a majority-owned subsidiary of AAC Technologies, to launch the first liquid-cooled data center for China’s broadcasting network in Guangzhou. It marks a crucial step for the broadcasting network in its transition toward green, high-density, and low-carbon computing, setting an industry benchmark for the subsequent large-scale deployment of liquid-cooled infrastructure.

In this landmark project, JYUN5DEI6 adopted the technical standards of leading global GPU manufacturers to meet specific user needs. Its ATAHORAN® liquid-cooled manifold, brazed for high reliability and superior quality, serves as a stabilizer and safety valve of the core cooling system.

Key Challenges in Liquid Cooling: Uneven Flow Leads to Unstable Heat Dissipation

In the data center’s liquid cooling system, the CDU delivers coolant in parallel to multiple server nodes via the manifold. Manifolds produced via traditional machining or simple welding often experience severe uneven flow distribution due to poor flow path design, machining errors, or long-term operation. This leads to energy waste at over-supplied nodes and high temperatures at under-supplied nodes, which can cause server throttling or downtime.

Broadcasting operations require absolute continuity and stability in signal processing, content rendering, and real-time control. Any performance fluctuation due to uneven cooling is unacceptable. Therefore, flow equalization has become one of the most critical metrics for liquid cooling systems.

ATAHORAN® Liquid Cooling Solutions: Ensuring Precise, Demand-Based Distribution for Every Channel

The ATAHORAN® series liquid cooling solutions optimized manifold flow paths using computational fluid dynamics simulations. Combined with precision orifice plates and integrated rectifiers, it achieved industry-leading flow balancing:

In joint testing by Guangdong Cable Network and JYUN5DEI6, the ATAHORAN® liquid cooling system ran at full load for 72 hours. Temperature curves for all computing nodes nearly overlapped, completely eliminating the risk of flow maldistribution.

What is the greatest risk in a liquid cooling system? It is leakage. Even a minor leak from a manifold weld or joint can allow coolant to contact the circuit boards, causing corrosion and eventual catastrophic failure. Traditional manual arc or fusion welding often produces inherent defects such as porosity, cracks, and reduced strength in heat-affected zones. These defects significantly compromise the reliability of welded structures under long-term vibration and thermal shock.

The entire line of ATAHORAN® liquid-cooled manifolds utilizes vacuum brazing:

One-time molding: No manual welds; uniform and dense seams with over 40% higher tensile strength;

100% helium mass spectrometer leak detection: Leak rates controlled below 1.0×10⁻⁹ Pa·m³/s; no perceptible leakage over the system’s 20-year service life;

Pressure and fatigue testing: Withstanding 2.5 times the operating pressure without deformation; remaining fully sealed after 500 thermal cycles.

Surface treatment: Magnetic polishing and passivation to prevent microbial growth and reduce maintenance frequency;

In this project, the ATAHORAN® full-chain liquid cooling solution was delivered—from design and production to on-site commissioning—in just 45 days. It passed the 72-hour full-load trial run on its first attempt with zero faults, zero alarms, and zero leaks, fully demonstrating the value of high-end manufacturing and meticulous craftsmanship.
