AAC Technologies Makes an Appearance at MWC Shanghai 2021, Unveiling a Set of Location Photos Shot by Its Globally Exclusive WLG Lens

On the morning of the 23rd this month, the 2021 Mobile World Congress (MWC) was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC). AAC came with dozens of its latest products and solutions to the expo, covering sectors such as acoustics, optics, electromagnetic drives and 5G RF.

The most noteworthy of which are those of the optics sector. As the sole owner of WLG technology across the world, AAC posted for the first time a set of location photos taken with the WLG glass–plastic hybrid lens, capturing the attention of many attendees.

According to AAC’s R&D staff, compared to traditional pure plastic lenses, WLG glass–plastic hybrid lenses are thinner, but with better light transmission and resolution performance. When shooting at nights, compared to the same class of pure plastic lenses, their light transmission rate is increased by 20%, which effectively improves image quality in low-light scenarios, while delivering better color reproduction and reducing flare. With its exceptional optical performance, the WLG lenses will spearhead the transformation of smartphone imaging in the 5G era.

AAC also exhibited its 6P lens module for a 108MP smartphone camera and introduced the industry-leading motor solution driven by SMA (shape-memory alloy). According to AAC’s R&D staff, as the number of lenses increases, smartphone lenses become ever heavier, making traditional electromagnetic motors struggle with the thrust. SMA motors, however, can provide greater thrust than traditional ones thanks to their smaller size. Meanwhile, as SMA motors work through DC heating, the electromagnetic interference they generate is almost negligible, which solves the problem of electromagnetic interference in cell phones and thus enjoy a broad market prospect.

Acoustic product experience area

In addition to products and technologies applied in cell phones, AAC also presented an extensive range of products and solutions for other sectors, including the globally exclusive SLS speakers and X-axis touch motors for TV, automobile, and gaming applications. In terms of 5G, AAC has a full set of 5G base station technology solutions. Its independently developed and produced RF-MEMS antenna tuners bring users a better 5G experience.
