AAC Technologies Works with Nezha S to Debut 720° Smart Cart Audio Solutions

On July 31, Hozon Auto released Nezha S, the first mass-produced model on its self-made full-stack “Mountain Sea Platform.” As a grade B+ sports smart coupe, Nezha S enjoys both the stunning a”pearance of sports cars and the smart soul of executive-class cars. Its widely-known surrounding smart cockpit is also equipped with a smart audio system jointly developed by AAC Technologies and Hozon Auto, which is tailor-made from algorithms to hardware and leads the industry in many aspects.

Meng Yiming, the General Manager of the Automotive Acoustics Business of AAC Technologies, said that Nezha S’ vehicle-mounted smart audio system is a joint creation by AAC Technologies and the client. 720° surround sound and the “3D sound field enhancement” algorithm

After rigorous and thorough acoustic analysis, AAC Technologies has customized the 720° surround sound system consisting of 7.1.4 channels and 21 speakers, with a maximum output power of 1216W. The system heightens the sound source with a high-altitude channel formed by installing speakers at high positions to create an effect of sound falling from above. Supported by the “3D sound field enhancement” algorithm, it can fully expand the width, depth, and height of the sound field and make sound flow in the 3D space, thus converting the surround sound from a plane to a 720° three-dimensional space and bringing drivers and passengers a brilliant immersive experience as if they were wrapped up by music.

In addition, AAC Technologies has also customized the sound field reconstruction algorithm for the Nezha S. By analyzing the frequency domain and time domain information of the original stereo sound signal, it can accurately extract audio components suitable for different orientations, different angles and containing different spatial information, and then hand it over to the “sound field reconstruction” algorithm engine for processing and match the multi-channel audio system in the car. In this way, it can restore the 720° sound field supported by main speakers, headrest speakers, and ceiling speakers. This audio system can not only create a three-dimensional sound experience for the audience in the car, but it can also maintain the original high-fidelity sound spectrum and natural feeling. The 720° surround sound experience will not be compromised even when the system is playing music from online resources.

It is worth mentioning that, in order to better meet the individual hearing needs of passengers, the Nezha S creates an ultra-near sound area for the driver and the co-driver by installing headrest speakers on the main driver’s seat and the co-driver’s seat for the first time, making them the “center of sound wherever they are.”

Limited by the dimension, traditional vehicle-mounted speakers are often mounted at a convenient position rather than the acoustically superior position. To solve this problem, AAC Technologies has developed automotive USS miniature speakers to break the physical limit of dimensions with a footprint far smaller than traditional speakers.

Ceiling speakers are essential for realizing 720° surround sound. The 1.9m2 large canopy of the Nezha S occupies most areas of the ceiling and leaves only a small area for speakers. Therefore, the 4 miniature speakers on the side of the ceiling can cope with the challenge of small size. Also, they have innovative features in the high-strength carbon fiber composite paper cone material and the multi-supported ultra-linear structure to maintain the output sound pressure when speakers are smaller. Despite the size, miniatures speakers can also output huge energy and deliver great joy.

The non-aligned design of double audio coils can maximize the stroke by taking full advantage of the space, so as to obtain efficiency gain. The refined tuning and signal processing can maximize the sound performance of rear woofers to create a fuller and more stunning bass field.
