AAC’s “Bucket Meal” Solution Helps Black Shark 5 Offer the Ultimate Experience

On the evening of March 30, the Black Shark 5 series made a stunning debut, including Black Shark 5, Black Shark 5 Pro, and Black Shark 5 RS.

With the theme of “Speed Beyond Gravity,” the Black Shark 5 series released this time is not only equipped with powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 870 chips, but is improved to the maximum extent in sound quality, vibration, cameras, and even sound pickup by applying AAC Technologies’ customized software-hardware-integrated one-stop solution.

In terms of sound quality, Black Shark 5 Pro is the top scorer of the DXOMARK Audio Test by relying on AAC’s symmetric speakers and algorithm, together with four HDR microphones. In terms of haptics, Black Shark 5 and Black Shark 5 Pro apply AAC’s large-sized X-axis linear actuators supported by the RichTap® Muse algorithm for a major haptics upgrade. In addition, Black Shark 5 is also equipped with AAC Optics’ 64MP high-resolution main camera to deliver powerful imaging performance.

Top scorer of DXOMARK Audio Test with master-grade sound quality

In terms of acoustics, AAC Technologies has provided Black Shark 5 Pro with an integrated acoustic solution. The symmetrical dual speakers and four top-ranking microphones, combined with the original acoustics algorithm, help Black Shark 5 Pro score the highest in both the DXOMARK Audio Test and the Recording Test, surpassing the runner-up by 5 points.

Black Shark 5 Pro is equipped with two symmetrical super-linear speakers 1216P, equivalent to the super-large sound cavity of 1.5cc, with a maximum vibration amplitude of 0.8mm. It is now the mass-produced miniature speaker with the largest vibration amplitude in the world. Compared with the Black Shark 4 series, the overall loudness of the Black Shark 5 Pro is 20% higher; the low-frequency performance is 40% higher; the high frequency is extended from 9.2kHz to 13.2kHz; and the sound quality is impressive with rich and full bass and sonorous and clear treble.

It is worth mentioning that the symmetrical dual-speaker stereo solution optimizes Black Shark 5 Pro’s sense of acoustic space. The balanced sound field makes the space broader. A full range of sound details can be presented even in loudspeaker mode, allowing players to identify enemies by sound when gaming. Users can hear enemies’ positions and distance.

In addition to the top-notch hardware configuration, a satisfactory acoustic experience cannot be achieved without an algorithm. AAC Technologies brings the sound of the two 1216P speakers to the fullest with the acoustics algorithm and tuning. AAC’s original non-linear compensation (NLC) algorithm restores lossless sound quality in high definition, significantly reducing non-linear problems and making the bass boost clearer and more solid.

Meanwhile, by breaking the physical limit of dimensions, the sound field reconstruction algorithm allows players to feel a broader sound field and better identify the orientation no matter if they are listening to a full piece of music or a small gaming sound. The graded tuning algorithm can easily enable multi-level volume adjustment. Supported by the top-ranking tunning service provided by the Golden Ears from China’s electronic audio industry certification, the Black Shark 5 series can exert the potential of its speakers to the fullest at different volumes, delivering better sound quality with deep bass and clear treble.

Best-in-class four-microphone layout with 360° stereo sound pickup

In terms of sound pickup, the Black Shark 5 Pro applies the industrially-leading four-microphone design to record sound from the front, rear, left, and right at 360 degrees. Voice to be recorded is never blocked by any phone-holding gesture no matter if players are making phone calls or playing games. Supported by the high-quality noise reduction algorithm and the echo cancellation algorithm, the Black Shark 5 Pro can realize perfect highly clear voice communication and ultra-low-distortion audio recording, allowing users to communicate freely without worrying about echo or noise.

Featuring an SNR as high as 66dB and an AOP of 135dB, these four customized highly performing HDR microphones can effectively address the issue of overdrive. According to the introduction by an R&D engineer of AAC Technologies, most models on the market have 10% distortion at an SPL of only 125dB, while the Black Shark 5 Pro has only 1% distortion at an SPL of 131dB, and 10% at 135dB, which is far better than the industry average. This means that a Black Shark 5 Pro can clearly record the sound you want even in annual meetings, concerts, stage shows, outdoor performances, or other noisy scenes.

Besides, the Black Shark 5 Pro also supports AudioZoom on the basis of the four-microphone design, allowing the sound to automatically focus (zoom-in to increase / zoom-out to decrease) following the video to capture the clear and complete sound of the protagonist. Users can realize dynamic audio scaling while using video zooming.

X-axis actuator with the RichTap® Muse algorithm to deliver stronger vibration

This time, both the Black Shark 5 and Black Shark 5 Pro are upgraded with AAC’s X-axis linear actuators. The Black Shark 5 Pro is equipped with a large-sized X-axis linear actuator supported by the AAC RichTap® Muse algorithm in its debut.

Compared with the Black Shark 4 series, the large-sized X-axis linear actuator of the Black Shark 5 Pro improves the effective bandwidth by 172%, the stable vibratory magnitude by 33%, the instantaneous vibratory magnitude by 31%, and reduces noise by 29%, besting the former on all fronts. On the premise of perceptible actuator vibration, a larger bandwidth means richer vibration effects. Users can feel lightness at low frequencies and thumps at high frequencies.

In terms of haptics software, Black Shark added the RichTap® Muse algorithm to the vibration editor in the upgraded Black Shark Cube for the first time. The advanced Muse algorithm was developed by the RichTap® team under AAC, allowing users to directly edit DIY vibration effects that can be used as gaming vibrations or ringtone vibrations. It is both entertaining and personalized.

64MP high-resolution main camera from AAC Optics

In addition, the 64MP high-resolution main camera from AAC Optics equipped on the Black Shark 5 consists of 6 plastic lenses. It can output extremely detailed images and performs better in detailed imaging for most scenarios in daily life, thus demonstrating the ultimate charm in photography.
