On February 10, according to the data released by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, global innovation entities accomplished growth in the volume of PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) international patent applications against the COVID-19 epidemic in 2021. Chinese applicants submitted 69,500 international patent applications through the PCT, topping the chart in terms of application volume for three consecutive years. The top 5 countries in application volume are the United States (59,600, +1.9%), Japan (50,300, -0.6%), South Korea (20,700, +3.2%) and Germany (17,300, -6.4%).
